Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP)

The PUCP organized two events I was invited. The first was an international seminar on “Visibility and Access to Scientific Production”, held in September 2011 organized by the Section of Library and Information Science. I made a presentation on “Knowledge as a public good: challenges for developing countries”, in which I contrasted the public good nature of knowledge and the characteristics of rather limited recognition, academic reputation and some photos from the event can be seen below.

The second event was the 15th edition of Aula Magna, an annual conference on leading issues for Peruvian development. The general theme of this year was “University and Enterprise”, and my presentation examined knowledge supply and demand issues, stressing the role that the university can play in matching them. The presentation is available (in Spanish) here

In addition, I completed my second year as member of the Committee on Bioethics at the PCUP, during which we designed the Committee’s structure and proposed its bylaws to the university authorities. At the request of the Vice-Rector for Research, I prepared a report on the current situation, prospects and key initiatives on science, technology and innovation in Peru. The report “En busca del tiempo perdido” (In search of lost time) can be found (in Spanish) here (588 KB).
